@2009 Evening Sun Vineyard |
|
Evening Sun Vineyard is located in Holly Grove, Lexington, North Carolina. We are about 32 miles from Greensboro and 25 miles from Winston Salem, North Carolina.
On Christmas 2008, we were invited over for Christmas dinner. Our brother-in-law served us one of his favorite red wines. Because of Christmas 2008, we both determined that growing grapes to make our own wine was going to happen. April 2009, we made five gallons of Merlot Blackberry and ten gallons Cabernet Sauvignon with cherry, blueberry, and blackberry flavors. It was some good stuff!
Evening Sun Vineyard was born after we made our fist wine in 2009. Our neighbors helped us prepare the land. Brother-in-Law was also helping us lay out end poles and posts in preparation before our grape vines would be planted in early April 2010.
Late March 2010, our mother (San), brother (Kong) flew in from California to help us plant the beginning grape vines for our vineyard.
Early April 2010, we planted all of the grape vines with the help of families and friends. We planted over 1000 grape vines with four different vinerfa grapes (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot & Zinfandel) on the 2.5 acre vineyard.
Before Evening Sun Vineyard, this land was used by our late father, who grew wheat, barley, corn, milo & soy-beans in the 70’s.
After our father passed away, land rented to a farmer who grew alfalfa until 1998.
With all the help from family and neighbors, the Evening Sun Vineyard was born on the land of many histories.
This is the beginning of a small vineyard for Tim & Sida Metters……we hope you enjoy! |
